*shake head*

I visited SGH last night; I am disappointed with the words used and the attitude given. When we reached the room, we decided to ask the nurse in charge what are the results for the blood test. We approached her nicely and asked “can you please let us know what happened to the patient for bed 4?”She gave an unfriendly face, as if we owe her a million dollars, and said “I’m giving out medications to the patient; I will get back to you.” So we waited since 1915hrs till 2030hrs, she wore the red vest indicating medication, until she took it out walking around, she even walked past us and she did not get back to us. We waited for an hour plus and we are running out of patience so I decided to approach another nurse at the counter. She is nice and tells us what was written on the record and refer us back to the nurse in charge as she in charge of another ward. So we stood outside the room waiting for the nurse in charge to see us and finally she did.

“The patient is not very serious so we will schedule the appointment for the scan tomorrow or the following day.” We were shocked, not serious? He has been ill for 4 freaking days and still vomiting, he did not have a proper meal since last Thursday, is this consider not serious? If the scan is not schedule within the 6 hours for his fast, then why fast him in the first place?

“What is it that you want to know? Or you want you to talk to the on-call doctor?”So we requested to talk to the doctor. We waited for another hour before we get to meet the doctor. So we talked to the doctor and she said she will leave a note to make an appointment as soon as possible.

I was told that we have to push the nurses and doctors in the hospital so they can get things done, else will delay and delay? I do not know how true, but I seriously think that the reply from the nurse in charge is unforgiveable. How can she tell us that they will take the serious patient first? Furthermore, if it is not serious, why in the first place he is admitted to the hospital?

On the other hand, the nurse consultant(?), I assume since she wear the difference color of uniform, came and check if the nurse in charge told us the situation and have we spoken to the doctor; NC Chia.

I think we deserve better. We waited for near 2 hours and by the time we have our dinner, it’s already 2200hrs.
